Intrinsic Motivation - What is the impact for our career?
At different times in our lives we doubt our decisions, our work and our career. It is very common that we have to deal with different types of insecurity, which can lead to demotivation phases. Faced with this scenario, then I ask you: Do you know the importance of motivation for our career and even for our daily lives? Do you know how to maintain your enthusiasm during your professional career?
Motivation can be considered a force that drives an individual's engagement and dedication to pursue a certain goal or perform an activity, being responsible for directing and maintaining these actions. We know that in the corporate environment we can find extrinsic motivation, that is, determined by external factors such as the recognition of performance, benefits and the presence of a pleasant organizational climate. It is essential that the company is composed of a group of employees united by the same objectives, with aligned expectations and that there are incentives to maintain people's enthusiasm, loyalty and commitment. However, the motivation generated by the company may not be sufficient for the employee. What then would be the type of motivation that is crucial for people and how does it impact our career development?
It is necessary to emphasize the importance of intrinsic motivation not only in our professional lives, but also in our personal lives. That is, cultivating our internal strength to keep us active and motivated to pursue our goals, as well as finding our self-fulfillment and job satisfaction. Now that we know the existence of this internal motivation, I have two questions for you to reflect on: what really motivates you? What drives you to pursue your career development? Professional self-knowledge is essential for the management of your career, that is, having your goals clear, knowing your strengths, points for improvement and limitations, developing emotional intelligence, and having the knowledge of the changes necessary for the pursuit of your growth. In this way, you can enhance your skills, develop career planning and strategically manage your professional decisions and actions.
The main reason for seeking your self-knowledge is to strengthen your self-confidence and ensure the effective search for your professional fulfillment, by maintaining your motivation. Once you have your specific and measurable career goals, it is possible to cultivate your interest and determination to continue your journey in the right direction, motivated, prepared to overcome adversity, being flexible to different scenarios and especially being able to make the right choices that will bring positive impacts to your professional life. I feel extremely motivated being a Human Resources professional and by my passion for helping and developing people. I believe that I still have many professional projects to put into practice, several challenges to face and a lot of things to learn, and all of this also makes me super excited to continue building my career.
How about you? Do you know what motivates you? Do you feel inspired to leave your comfort zone and pursue your professional growth? I encourage you to seek self-knowledge and discover what really motivates you, so that you can build your careers with more confidence, satisfaction and joy!
