JORC REVIEW WEBINAR SEP 25

JORC REVIEW WEBINAR SEP 25

On the 10th September the JORC committee undertook the online webinar; “An update on the JORC code review”. This review briefly outlined the process to date, key changes and the steps to complete the process sometime in 2026.

My impression is that the new code is retreating from having extensive detail, (relying on “if-not-why-not” rational) simplified the ESG component, and a broader take on who can prepare such reports (still need 5 years “relevant” experience). The aspects for the international use of the code appear to begin to be better appreciated, with synergy with CRISCRO strengthened, though remaining an Australian document.

Post webinar discussion with colleges suggests posting the draft on LinkedIn would enable interested parties to consider the document more thoroughly, and engage in general discussion that may not be over consuming for the drafters of the Code.

I greatly appreciate the huge effort and commitment the volunteers are undertaking for this fantastic review.
