Keep it Simple WSUD

Keep it Simple WSUD

One of the important things to keep in mind when considering WSUD, and how it will evolve over time, is the interplay with other, established fields such as flood management and urban drainage.

When you step back from WSUD for a moment, and consider its potential, it's pretty obvious that the potential is large. However there is a risk. The risk is that in implementing WSUD, we add more and complexity into the overall stormwater management system. That means more difficulty in implementation and more cost.

In my opinion, a truly water sensitive future is likely to be simple and elegantly address all these interrelated fields as one. However that WSUD future is quite a long way off. We're unlikely to get there in one giant leap. So instead, we take baby steps in the right direction. How do we do that and keep the system simple?
