KETI Achieves Approval of AI and Robot-Linked City Bus Standards

Last week, the Korea Institute of Electronics and Technology (KETI) and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute ETRI hosted the 69th Technical Meeting (TP#69) of oneM2M in Jeju (S. Korea).

The event was held through the "CitiVerse Standard Research Center" initiative. This is an Information and Communication Broadcasting Standards Development Support Project supported by S. Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Information and Communication Planning and Evaluation Agency (IITP).

The key agenda topic at TP#69 was to develop standards for city bus-based technologies such as #AI, #robots, and the #metaverse. CityVerse is a smart city operation platform that replicates real cities digitally to predict and manage urban problems in virtual spaces. It involves a fusion of technologies such as #DigitalTwins, metaverse, #IoT, and AI. Cityverse simulates complex problems based on city data, and connects major services such as #urban #administration, #transportation, and #environment in real time and in virtual space.

At TP#69, standardization discussions focused on ensuring connectivity and compatibility between future urban services as well as a roadmap for integration and compatibility. KETI and ETRI contributed to the discussion on international standards through the the concept of Citybus technology and the establishment of a standard system. KETI led the discussion on the standardization of AI-enabled technology and robot operating system (ROS) #interworking.

According to Jaejin Ko, Head of KETI Convergence Systems Research Division, "KETI researchers will continue to carry out international standardization activities to strengthen the global competitiveness of domestic technology and expand its overseas expansion."
