Save time with web-access into oneM2M technical documents

Standardization documents are highly formal and often lengthy, which presents a learning hurdle for anybody seeking to apply standards. To enable easier access to technical information, oneM2M is testing new ways to publish specifications and reports via a set of common formats. One of them is a web-friendly approach to document publication. Our aim is to make it easier to guide developers directly to key sections and relevant information. Today's alternative involves downloading and keyword-searching inside traditional #Word and #PDF documents.

Here is an illustration of what we mean. It applies to oneM2M's TS-0023 technical specification on "SDT based Information Model and Mapping for Vertical Industries". This link takes readers past the preamble and directly to the introduction of device management functions (e.g., rebooting, firmware management, configuration etc.) using oneM2M’s FlexContainer resources. Further down on the page, there are links to external documents and definitional details in TS-0023.

This example is a work in progress (see the remaining Editor notes), yet still accessible to the user community. We welcome any feedback that will improve the user experience, whether you are simply learning about oneM2M or a product developer focused on implementation.

Over the coming months, oneM2M will migrate additional Technical Reports, Specifications, and Work Items to this format.
