Master AI in 15 Minutes a Week — Even If You’re Neck‑Deep in PeopleSoft
🤖 Tired of AI “training” that looks great on slides but never saves you a minute in PeopleSoft? ⚡ Here’s the 15-minute micro-practice that trades hype for real-world time savings—starting this week.

The PeopleSoft Insider is brought to you by:
xSIGNAL: The Cure for ERP’s Silent Failures.
Your ERP is full of early warning signs. But no one sees them—until it’s too late.
xSIGNAL detects critical anomalies—from payroll errors to supply chain slowdowns—and routes prescriptive fixes via Slack, SMS, Teams, or email.
This isn’t another alert. It’s the real-time communication layer PeopleSoft was never built with.
Most ERP failures aren’t technical—they’re communication failures.
xSIGNAL adds an invisible layer of AI + Workflow + OmniChannel delivery that catches what dashboards miss—and tells the right person what to do next.
No noise. No chaos. Just resolution.

You’ve seen it. Your company announces a new AI workshop. There’s a calendar invite, a Zoom link, maybe even free lunch.
Then someone shares a deck full of theoretical prompts and demo tools you can’t actually use because they’re blocked, licensed, or simply irrelevant to how your PeopleSoft job works.
And afterward, nothing changes. No one actually uses what they learned. And no one seems surprised.
Most AI training is built by people who don’t do the work.
And that’s why it doesn’t stick for those of us in the PeopleSoft and ERP world.
⚡What We Actually Need
PeopleSoft professionals don’t need “AI inspiration” slides. And we certainly don't need a bunch of hyped up theories.
We need leverage and we need speed.
We need something that saves us time in our actual system—not another Canva walkthrough.
Let’s face it: Your day is already packed with troubleshooting failed integrations, prepping for the next PUM, dealing with test scripts, helping functional teams untangle Fluid bugs, and putting out fires before payroll and month end closing.
The last thing you need is theory.
You need a tool that saves you 30 minutes today. And that’s where a 15-minute weekly AI micro-practice comes in.
⚡The 15-Minute AI Habit That Actually Works
Here’s the plan that works better than any official training I’ve seen:
Pick a tool you actually have (ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, OCI’s GenAI, or even local LLMs).
Pick a task that’s annoying, repetitive, or slow.
Spend 15 minutes prompting, refining, and saving your best result.
Use it the next day.
Repeat weekly.
That’s it. No big course. No certification. No prompt guru needed.
And the ROI? It compounds.
15 minutes per week × 52 weeks = 13 hours of learning.
But most PeopleSoft pros I’ve coached gain back 40+ hours or more over a year just by applying what they learn.
🧪 Real-World AI Prompts for PeopleSoft
Here are 7 copy‑paste AI use cases I’ve used or seen succeed in real environments:
And, if you have ChatGPT, use the o3 model and paste an image of a section of PeopleCode and ask "what does this code do?" You'll be amazed!
📘 4-Week AI Kickstart Plan
Here’s how to make this stick without burning out:
Week 1 – Choose one tool and one task. Time how long the task normally takes.
Week 2 – Prompt, iterate, refine. Save the result.
Week 3 – Reuse the prompt on a similar task. Track time saved.
Week 4 – Create a 3-slide recap to show your team lead. Propose expansion.
This alone has helped one of my readers get buy-in for AI tools across their entire ERP team.
💡Why This Works When Workshops Don’t
You’re solving your own problems—not watching someone solve theirs
You’re learning in your environment—not a sandbox that doesn’t look like your setup
It’s short and tied to immediate outcomes—so it sticks
You don’t need to be an “AI person.” You just need to be someone who solves real ERP problems faster.
FAQs (for the skeptics)
Q: What if AI hallucinates?
That’s why we review. Treat outputs as drafts, not gospel.
Q: Is it safe to use with code?
Use enterprise versions (ChatGPT Team, OCI GenAI) and mask data. Or use on private instances.
Q: Do I need fancy prompt skills?
No. Be specific. Iterate twice. That gets you 80% of the value.
How I Use AI in My Work
Each week, I use AI to:
Turn a rough idea into a newsletter
Write better SQL commentary for junior devs
Draft LinkedIn content
Refactor outreach templates
Brainstorm offer positioning for job seekers
Some of it’s great. Some of it’s average. But it saves time either way.
I’m not building a PICASO chatbot. I’m building margin. And that makes me more effective for my clients, my readers, and my business.
The Bottom Line
AI is not a revolution. It’s a wrench.
And like any tool, you get better by using it—not sitting through a demo of how someone else does it. So if you’re wondering how to "get started with AI and PeopleSoft," don’t wait for corporate to hand you a roadmap or ask you to build a PICASO chatbot.
Create your own path. Pick one tool. One PeopleSoft task. Spend 15 minutes this week.
The gains will compound faster than any workshop could promise.
Your PeopleSoft career doesn’t need more training. It needs more traction.

3moI've started using AI tools regularly in my day-to-day PeopleSoft work, and the difference is night and day. I used to rely on Google searches and sift through PeopleBooks manually—but now I use tools like Google Notebook LM to load all the PeopleSoft PUM and PeopleTools documentation so I can converse with it instead of just search. It’s drastically faster and more intuitive than scanning pages of static docs. I still use ChatGPT as well, especially for code review, summarizing logs, and brainstorming troubleshooting steps. There are so many practical ways to get real leverage—this article nails it by focusing on workflow gains, not just “AI inspiration.” With certain Language models like ChatGPT o3 you can even paste in an image of PeopleCode that is causing issues and ask ChatGPT what the code is doing or what could be causing issues. You'd be amazed at the capabilities. I'd love to hear from other PeopleSoft and ERP professionals on how you're using it and if not, why not?
