May 2025 Edition – “Leading Through Chaos, From Home to Boardroom”

The last few years have been a wild ride. Like many of you, I’ve felt the tension between the urgent need for transformation and the increasing tendency of organizations to fall back into control, rather than lean into commitment. Safe2Great has never felt more relevant — and never more tested.

Across industries, I’ve been in conversation with leadership teams and networks — not just about Growth Mindset, but about how we adapt, learn, and lead in an era of uncertainty. Most recently, I facilitated three workshops with executive networks across Denmark. What stood out was how leaders are trying to make sense of overwhelming shifts and threats — while also creating the space and stability needed to turn insight into strategic, meaningful action. Without that space, action risks becoming chaotic, reactive, and wasted.

One of the biggest problems I see — when there’s so much noise inside and outside the company — is that distractions increase, resolve weakens, and passivity takes over. “Better to wait and see,” people think. And unless someone is asking them to take that bigger step, that bigger risk, that bigger responsibility — nothing changes. This is exactly why leadership matters most in times of uncertainty. It’s not about having the answers. It’s about creating the conditions for courage, action, and learning.

I’m excited to be exploring these ideas further in my upcoming masterclass with Wellbees, a platform at the forefront of rethinking workplace wellbeing. We’ll be looking at how leadership, safety, and performance intersect — and how leaders can support people to thrive, not just survive, in complex environments.

I’ve also continued my work with Novo Nordisk, helping bring Safe2Great to life through coaching, executive team development, and strategic consulting. The strategy work — shaping ideas, crafting narratives, building engagement — is something I find particularly energizing. It’s about turning intention into movement.

Welcoming a New Accredited Practitioner

The work of bringing Safe2Great to life doesn’t happen alone — it grows through a community of committed, curious, and courageous leaders and coaches. I’m excited to share that our Safe2Great Growth Mindset Practitioner accreditation continues to expand.

Please join me in warmly welcoming Tine Kragh Nielsen to the list of accredited practitioners. Tine brings deep experience, insight, and a true passion for helping people grow. We’re thrilled to have her in the network and look forward to seeing her bring the Safe2Great principles into her practice and leadership journey.

If you’re curious about becoming a Safe2Great practitioner or bringing this work into your organization, feel free to reach out. We’re building something powerful — and personal.

And in the background, another project has taken root.

My new book — In the Dark: The Energy Transformation That Starts at Home and Ends Up Saving Us All — began with interviews on sustainable leadership. But it quickly became something more urgent. I became obsessed with the lack of knowledge and the amount of misinformation surrounding energy — and how households, not just governments or corporations, are the real front line of the green transformation. In Australia, we’re already seeing this happen. In many places, we’re missing the moment. This book is a reflection on change, inertia, and what it really takes to move forward — as people and as societies.

Whether it’s coaching leaders, facilitating workshops, or writing a book, I keep returning to the same question:

How do we lead meaningful change when it’s easier to do nothing?

Thanks for being on the journey. Let’s keep pushing forward — together.

Warmly,

Skip
