Lavazza and sport: a blend that has shaped a legacy
The connection between Lavazza and sport has always run deep, rooted in family, passion and community. It all began with our founder Luigi Lavazza. Back in the 1940’s, he built a bocce court not just for fun, but to bring people together and support a local nursery school. Over time, this simple act of sharing grew into a lasting legacy, with Lavazza becoming a proud presence on fields, courts, greens and grandstands across Italy and beyond.
From golf to bridge, from hometown football matches to major global tournaments, the Lavazza name has continued to be a central part of the action. Lavazza’s support has extended to iconic events and teams, from sponsoring major football teams in Italy and abroad, to becoming the official coffee of the Grand Slam tennis circuit.
Today, Lavazza continues to stand alongside athletes and fans with the same spirit that started it all: sharing meaningful moments over a great cup of coffee.
10 years together: celebrating the foundation stone of our Group with Merrild
Ten years ago, something special began. Lavazza made its very first brand integration with the acquisition of Merrild , a company with a similar heritage, shared values and the very same passion for quality coffee. This was more than a business move; it was the first step in creating the foundation of our Group.
Over the past decade spent together, Merrild has become the top retail coffee provider in Denmark. But beyond the numbers, it’s the people and the culture we’ve developed that stand out the most. We’ve welcomed new talents, strengthened our skills and stayed true to our shared values, building a community shaped by passion, commitment and mutual respect.
Our Impact, our responsibility: the Sustainability Report
Our latest Sustainability Report gives a clear and honest look at how we care for people, the planet and the communities within which we operate. From climate action to responsible sourcing, our journey is shaped by a deep commitment to doing business better, one cup at a time.
This year, we’ve made concrete, measurable progress across numerous key areas: from projects to reduce the environmental impacts of green coffee to the sustainable packaging roadmap, to supporting local communities and associations through the Lavazza Volunteer Program. We’ve also expanded our social programs, helping young people enter the coffee industry and promoting inclusion in our workplaces worldwide.
Our work isn’t finished, and that’s just the point. Sustainability is a continuous effort, and we’re in it for the long haul.
Biennale Architettura 2025: the Canal Café Project’s Golden Lion Win
«Learning that the Canal Café Project won the Golden Lion for Best Participation at the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale has brought us great satisfaction. We chose to support this visionary and multidisciplinary project focusing on the critical challenge of freshwater recovery. Congratulations to Intelligens curator Carlo Ratti, Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Natural Systems Utilities, SODAI S.p.A., Aaron Betsky, and Davide Oldani on this outstanding achievement», said Francesca Lavazza , Board Member of our Group.
