This session will showcase the Green Powered Future Mission’s activities, progress, and collaborations with key international actors. It will feature contributions from international representatives on GPFM Innovation Priorities relevant to Africa and the Global South, and a joint activity with the Urban Transitions Mission on isolated communities. The GPFM will also release its 2024 Annual Report, highlighting the Mission’s achievements over the past year.

This event, organized by UNIDO with contributions from NGIN and respective innovation challenge partners, will provide an overview of UNIDO’s approach and service offering for Just Energy Transitions.

This side event, organized by the Netherlands’ Ministry, will focus on sustainable carbon, biomass, recycled captured CO2 as a feedstock for chemicals industry.
18:30 – 20:00, Climate Action Zone, Hirkan Room – “Accelerating Industrial Decarbonisation Through Strengthened Collaboration on Shared Challenges.”
This strategic dialogue will gather senior representatives to discuss how industrial decarbonisation can be further accelerated through strengthened international collaboration. The event will build on a recent workshop with governments, philanthropic organisations, and leading international initiatives on the Steel and Cement & Concrete Breakthroughs to consider actionable milestones for COP30 and COP31.
Climate Action Innovation Zone – “Hydrogen Transition Summit.“
The 5th annual Hydrogen Transition Summit will be the largest and longest-running hydrogen-focused event at COP. It will gather 500 key stakeholders, including investors, hydrogen producers, offtakers, tech innovators, project developers, and policymakers, to advance the hydrogen economy at speed on a global scale

This interactive event will bring stakeholders together to discuss the role of clean energy innovation partnerships in accelerating emissions reductions in line with 1.5C pathways and delivering on international clean power commitments. We will hear key insights from Mission Innovation, a global initiative catalysing a decade of action and investment in clean energy innovation, as well as specific innovation projects from around the world. Delegates are invited to join a discussion about the need and opportunities for climate innovation funding and how we can collectively bolster investment and collaboration on global clean energy innovation. The 15th edition of World Climate Summit 2024 aims to significantly strengthen the impact of public-private sector cooperation to achieve the policies, innovations and investments required in the real economy to reach 2030 transition targets and a net-zero and nature-positive world by 2050.

The Montréal Call to Action at the 2024 Innovate4Cities Conference highlighted that the world is not on track to meet the Paris Agreement goals, with current trends pointing towards 2.8°C global heating. Cities, responsible for over 70% of global CO₂ emissions, are crucial in addressing climate change. The Global Covenant of Mayors and the Urban Transition Mission are leading efforts to support cities in becoming climate-resilient and low-carbon. The updated Global Research and Action Agenda on Cities and Climate Change Science provides a knowledge base to help cities implement effective climate action plans.
