Monsanto Indonesia CP Tangerang Site and Row Crop Mojokerto Site Receives 2016 Green Industry Award

This is the first-time Monsanto Indonesia received Green Industry Award for both Manufacturing facilities: Tangerang Crop Protection Site and Mojokerto Row Crop Site delivered by the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Airlangga Hartarto. This award was third year in a row for Tangerang Crop Protection Site and the first time for Mojokerto Row Crop Site to received Green Industry Award as a company that has reached the level of "beyond compliance" in the production process.

The Green Industry Award is an industry icon that applies to the efficiency and effectiveness in the use of resources in a sustainable manner, committed to reduce gas emission and has strong commitment to support the development and livelihood of local community. The application of this concept is based on the expectation that the efficient use of raw materials, energy and water, in order to minimize the resulting waste and emission to the environment.

Tangerang Crop Protection Manufacturing Site and Mojokerto Row Crop Manufacturing Site implemented an increased focus on safety and environmental practices, while increasing output and performance through several improvement projects. For example, by automating their production process, the site has eliminated some ergonomic risks and minimized potential environmental pollution and safety problems that could be caused by handling raw materials through a manual process. In the same time supporting the development and livelihood of local community through some project i.e.: Monsanto Charity Week, Promoting Vehicle Safety to Neighborhood, Open House and English Teaching to the kids, etc.  

Mr. Erlangga Hartarto, The Ministry of Industry said, “This award given to the industry player as  strategic effort to support industry to boost productivity and competitive advantage as a main pillar of economic development” during 2016 Green Industry Award ceremony at The Ministry of Industry office on Tuesday, December 20th 2016.

 Mr. Haris Munandar, Head of Research and Development of Ministry of Industry said: “This year 142 industrial companies follow the green industry assessment, 25% increased compared last year”.  In general, the assessment criteria are based on three main points, namely the production process which includes production efficiency, the use of material inputs, energy, water, process technology, human resources, working environment in the production process and community development.
