A Morning of Inner Calm: Yoga Day Celebration at SNS College of Technology
As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, I often immerse myself in the world of circuits, algorithms, and innovations. But on 23rd June 2025, at the D Block Seminar Hall of SNS College of Technology, I witnessed something far more profound than any technology—the power of inner peace.
Organized by the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, “A Session on Yoga for Youth Engineers” was more than a scheduled event. It was a soulful experience that reminded us all that health is not just physical—it’s mental and spiritual too.
Guided by the serene and inspiring Dr. Prof. Swami Omkarananda Giri, whose presence radiated calm, the session began with gentle movements and breathing exercises. His insights blended ancient wisdom with modern understanding, helping young minds realize that yoga is not about touching toes—it’s about touching lives.
As students and faculty alike followed each posture, I felt a collective silence in the hall, not of boredom, but of awareness. The restless energy that usually fills classrooms slowly transformed into quiet focus. Each stretch, each mindful inhale, seemed to release layers of stress we didn’t know we were carrying.
I watched future engineers—those who will one day build machines and shape industries—surrender their busy thoughts and simply be present. It struck me that in a world constantly racing forward, moments like these are rare. And yet, they are essential.
In our biomedical field, we study heart rates and neurological patterns, but sessions like this teach us something deeper: that real healing often starts within. No machine can replicate the calm that yoga breathes into the mind, or the resilience it builds in the soul.
The presence of our respected principal, Dr. S. Chenthur Pandian, and vice principals Dr. P. Tamilselvam and Dr. P. Vivekanandan, showed us all that leadership isn’t just about guiding teams—it’s about nurturing well-being.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to Mr. V. Parthasarathi, Mr. M. Anand, and Dr. T. Prakash, whose efforts made this day possible. Their dedication reminded us that wellness is a shared responsibility.
As I walked out of the seminar hall that morning, the world outside looked the same, yet felt different. Lighter. Quieter. Kinder.
Let’s carry this stillness with us—not just on Yoga Day, but every day. Because in the end, what we build outside means little if we neglect the peace within.
