My Journey to Becoming a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT)

In 2005, I embarked on a journey that would shape my career and passion for technology and helping learners. It all began with my first Microsoft certification: the Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) 💻.

At the time, I was working in Accountancy with some IT support, and I was eager to deepen my knowledge and skills. My kid sister, Vicky, spotted a funded course and I jumped at the chance 🚀.

The preparation for the MCDST exam was both challenging and rewarding. Your first exam always is. I spent countless hours studying, practicing, and learning about the intricacies of Windows operating systems 🖥️. The more I learned, the more confident I became in my abilities. Passing the MCDST exam was a significant milestone for me, and it gave me the confidence to pursue further certifications 🎓.

In 2007, I decided to take my passion for technology and teaching to the next level by becoming a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) 👨🏫. As an MCT, I have had the privilege of sharing my knowledge and experience with others, helping them to achieve their own certification goals. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see my students succeed and to know that I played a part in their journey 🌟. As an MCT, I have travelled extensively, teaching in faraway places such as Haiti, South Africa, USA, Egypt, and soon I will be in Rwanda and Kenya ✈️.

Looking back, I am grateful for the decision I made in 2005 to pursue the MCDST certification. It was the first step on a path that has led to a fulfilling and successful career in IT and training. If you’re considering a career in IT or looking to advance your skills, I encourage you to take that first step.

You never know where it might lead you 🌈.

Good for you Andrew, my journey started with NT4 in 1999 completing my MCSE in November of that year. It seems like an age ago. 🙌
