The Overlooked Step Every Podcast Guest Should Take

The Overlooked Step Every Podcast Guest Should Take

The next time you reach out to a podcast host, or their booking team, consider this: recording an interview is only one part of the process. There are hours spent planning, editing, writing show notes, creating graphics, and distributing the episode across multiple platforms. Every detail is designed to showcase both the guest and the host in the best possible light.

That’s why, as a host, I notice when a guest shares the episode once it’s live. It tells me they understand the effort involved and value the opportunity they’ve been given.

Unfortunately, not every guest takes that step. Some treat the interview as if their responsibility ends when the recording stops. But the truth is, the real visibility comes after the episode is released. Sharing with your own audience multiplies the impact; for you, for the host, and for the show itself.

When you share, everybody wins:

  • The host grows their audience and sees their investment pay off.

  • You expand your reach by getting in front of both your audience and the host’s.

  • Listeners discover valuable content they might never have found otherwise.

And here’s something important: hosts remember who shares. Guests who help promote the show are often the ones invited back, referred to other podcasters, or recommended for bigger opportunities.

So, the next time you’re featured on a podcast, don’t let the visibility stop at the recording. Promote the episode. Add it to your newsletter. Post it on social media. Make it part of your marketing toolkit.

Because the simple act of sharing is what transforms you from “just another guest” into the kind of guest hosts love to work with.
