Why 75% of Podcasts Will Never Respond to Your Pitch
I can’t tell you how often I get pitched by people who are not a good fit for my podcasts or for my clients’ shows. On the flip side, I see people wasting time pitching to shows that have not published an episode in years.
According to Blubrry, a major podcast-hosting analytics provider, 75% of podcasts are no longer in production. Only about 25% kept releasing new episodes over a 12-month period.
If you do not check to see if a show is active, you are throwing away hours sending pitches that will never be answered.
Here is how to avoid this trap:
Look at the show’s feed before you pitch. If there has not been an episode in the last 6 to 12 months, it is likely pod-faded.
Check their website or social channels to confirm they are still active.
Focus your efforts on shows that are publishing consistently.
