People with purpose thrive and apparently live longer as well

I was struck by the research findings in this article The Hidden Power of Purpose for Longevity | Psychology Today

It outlines 4 key points.

  • Research shows that individuals with the highest sense of purpose experience a 46% reduced risk of mortality.
  • Purposeful adults are 24% less likely to become inactive and 33% less likely to develop sleep problems.
  • Purpose protects cognitive function and may reduce risk of dementia.
  • Higher purpose correlates with reduced epigenetic aging at the cellular level.

Purpose has become a buzz word in the corporate world and you may enjoy a good purpose statement or look on them with a sense of cynicism as the junior HR admin's purpose is to solve world hunger.

Having a higher purpose in life is important for focus, wellbeing and personal reward. There is also appears to be evidence that it can extend your health span as well. My advice is don't build it around work but look more broadly. If you have found a purpose, congratulations if you haven't there are some good resources to help you. https://www.betterup.com/blog/finding-purpose.
