Product Review for Microsoft SharePoint
What do you like best?
It's a very versatile platform.
What do you dislike?
It's a far too versatile platform for most scenarios people try to use it in. Or at least when compared to the amount of resources they've allocated for designing the business solution, or supporting their end users with it.
What business problems are you solving? What benefits have you realized?
Making document content available to groups of people that should be aware of its existence. Some may have actually discovered that content via SharePoint!
For which purposes do you use the product?
For solving the aforementioned business problems. Not just for fun. That part's reserved for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement, after all.
What is your primary role when using this product?
Site owner, site member, site visitor. It varies depending on the collaboration scenario, you know.
What is your relationship with this vendor?
I'm a Microsoft MVP for a different product. I get paid by a Microsoft partner organization. I'm therefore somewhat biased in my opinion.
At which company did you most recently use this product?
Where I'm currently working. I'm not sure when's the last time I would have worked for a company that DIDN'T have SharePoint.
Are you a current user of Microsoft SharePoint?
There is no escaping SharePoint. Learn to live with this fact and your life will be better.
Productivity, and technology to make the world a better place. We all need a little help and motivation sometimes.
7yGreat write up. "It's a far too versatile platform for most scenarios people try to use it in" I'm trying to write more about SharePoint and I'm having trouble putting it into a 'simple box'. I've decided that I'm going to HAVE to write about how SharePoint Online can solve specific business problems. It's so versatile and so under-utilized!
