Q&A with Kelsey Hyatt - Senior Program Manager, Flex Grocery

Kelsey Hyatt is a Senior Program Manager with Amazon's Flex Grocery team. In this article, Kelsey shares her experience at Amazon, detailing her favorite Leadership Principle, a core Amazon memory, and her biggest accomplishment as an Amazonian.

What is your favorite Amazon memory?

My favorite Amazon memory was my Day 1. I was fortunate enough to be hired with my starting date aligning with a team offsite. I was able to travel to Boston, meet the entire team in person (it was a virtual based team) and spend invaluable time learning and emerging myself into the peculiar culture that is Amazon for a week.

What accomplishment at Amazon are you most proud of?

I am most proud of my ability to career pivot and leverage my unique background to grow as a leader in the Last Mile space. My background is in healthcare, and I have a Master of Healthcare Administration. I was hired into Amazon as part of a healthcare based team and this team was laid off almost immediately after joining the company. From there, I was able to transition into the Last Mile space and not only learn the uniqueness of how to be an Amazonian but drive projects within the Grocery space, Amazon Flex, and Last Mile.

What is your favorite leadership principle and why?

My favorite Leadership Principle is Learn and Be Curious. I love that Amazon holds the space for employees to be able to learn about different aspects of the businesses, ask questions and seek to understand things that peak their interest.

What do you do for fun/ work-life balance?

I am married with two little kids (3 year old girl and 6 year old boy). The kids keep us busy with sports and we love to spend time outside as a family, skiing in the winter and camping throughout the summertime. Finally, I love gardening and growing flowers.

Best place you have ever traveled?

My favorite place I have traveled is Hawaii. I spent two weeks in Hawaii with my best friend post Master’s graduation. We hiked the Nepali Coast in Kauai, explored throughout Oahu and had a wonderful/relaxing time! I also love to visit Whistler. We do family ski trip there every spring.
