Reality Bytes: When Letting Go is the Right Move
Sometimes progress means letting go, even when it’s something you’ve built from the ground up.
On July 1, I made the bittersweet decision to retire the original “Data Center Reviews & Truths” newsletter hosted here on my personal profile. What started as a side project turned into a 400+ subscriber conversation about transparency, infrastructure, and the business decisions behind data centers.
But it was time to evolve.
We’ve officially moved everything, insights, reviews, spotlights, to the Data Center Reviews company page. That’s where the conversation continues and where it belongs. If you're not already following, I’d love for you to join us.
The old articles will stay live, but I had to shut off the newsletter to prevent new connections from getting outdated invites. And here’s where the real story begins.
I Tried to Migrate Subscribers… And Failed
You’d think in 2025, migrating newsletter subscribers would be easy.
It’s not.
I Googled. I searched LinkedIn’s help articles. I tried workarounds. But even on one of the world’s largest tech platforms, the answer was: you can’t do it.
That’s when it hit me, we’re all at the mercy of technology we don’t fully control. Whether it’s LinkedIn, licensing platforms, or that one “can’t-live-without-it” business app, we often rely on tools with frustrating limitations.
And sometimes, we overpay for the privilege.
What’s Hiding in Your IT Spend?
We talk a lot about colocation and IT infrastructure. But what about the software side of the house? Reach out to us Winsor Consulting Group, LLC for a review.
At Winsor Consulting, we’re seeing this more and more, organizations stuck in licensing agreements they don’t understand, paying for tools no one uses, or sitting on unused licenses because “someone might need them someday.”
It adds up. Quickly.
Right-sizing your IT environment isn’t just about reducing cost, it’s about making your business more agile. It’s about not being stuck. About taking control, not just with what you host, but with what you run.
You can’t always change the platform. But you can change how much it costs you. reach out to me if you want to see if we can help you change your licensing cost.
The Next Chapter
If this newsletter move taught me anything, it’s that transitions can be messy. But necessary.
I’m incredibly thankful for everyone who supported the original Data Center Reviews newsletters. Your feedback, questions, and shares helped shape this into something real.
Now it’s time to level up and celebrate July 4th.
