SCOTLAND STROKE DATA
STROKE DATA OF SCOTLAND REGION
Stroke is a medical condition that occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is disrupted, either by a blockage in a blood vessel or by bleeding in or around the brain. This can result in brain damage, which can range from mild to severe and permanent, depending on the extent and duration of the interruption of blood flow.
This stroke data set explains and gives insight about the stroke data and mortality rate in the Scotland region.
The data consists of the number of discharges, the diagnosis, the average EASR, and the HBR. we used this data to generate a stroke research in a stockland region and use this data to assist other regions.
I've decided on six key performance indicators (KPIs) for my data visualization:
1. NO OF DISCHARGES – The horizontal bar graph shows that the people suffering from stroke are among every age group with the majority of people from the age group of 0 - 44 years. The horizontal bar shows the no. of discharges among age groups of various patients .
The Age group 0-44 is 13,485
The age group 45-64 is 9,568.
The age group 65-74 is 10,191.
The Age group 75+ is 10,211.
2. CRUDE RATE -This pie chart for the crude rate of people suffering from stroke is divided by age.
From the information, we can conclude that the majority of the people in age group 75+ years suffer from stroke.
Age group 45 - 64 - 62.3 average crude rate
Age group 75+ - 469.2 average crude rate
3. DIAGNOSIS- This bar graph represents the cerebrovascular disease, stroke , and subarachnoid hemorrhage diagnosis.
According to data, it shows the highest case of cerebrovascular disease is 1791 in 75+ years and lowest cases were in 1617 under the 44 years age group.
According to data, It shows the highest case of stroke is 1736 under 75 year and lowest cases were 1370 under the 44 years age group.
According to data, it shows the highest case of subarachnoid hemorrhage in 1650 under 75 years age group and lowest cases were 1176 under 44 years age group.
4. NO. OF DEATHS - It represents death rate according to year.
5. Average EASR – This graph depicts the average crude rate in the male and female population and the chances of occurring both are the same irrespective of gender.
6. HBR- The majority of deaths are seen in the high cerebral bleeding and the rates of HBR and EASR are both high in patients but in the recent year due to changes and improvements in the health care system, this rate has decreased significantly with 4432 in 2021.
CONCLUSION: Today stroke is one of the major causes of death in the elderly population and by studying this data some important and insightful insights were gained and this can be used for further medical improvement in the field.
The Scottish government works closely with health care providers, researchers, and other stakeholders to collect and analyze this data. The results of this analysis are used to inform public health policies and programs aimed at reducing the burden of stroke in Scotland and improving the outcomes of those affected by stroke.
