Each Sustain the Sip coffee bean gains added value through certifications such as Bird Friendly, Rainforest Alliance, and Fair Trade. Therefore, it’s important to examine InConexus’ role in these certifications and how it empowers coffee growers. We’ll also briefly explore what these certifications entail.
Firstly, InConexus’support is grounded in the principle of treating everyone as equal—regardless of origin and status. Based on this pillar, various regional projects have been developed. For example, in the Sierra region, InConexus leads and empowers coffee growers in obtaining the certifications. A rural extension program is implemented, providing ongoing support to farmers in their agricultural practices to ensure high-quality production. Transparency in the quality process, a review of sustainable practices, and the replication of past successful methods are all part of the strategy.

In the departments of Nariño, Tolima and Huila, InConexus collaborates with Coffee Growers’ Associations to develop an inter-intitutional cooperation. This creates effective chain to meet certifications standards. The certifying entities conduct audits at every stage of the supply chain, turning the certifications into shared values.
It’s important to see the background of Sustain the Sip, to do so, let’s take a look at how these international certifications impact our coffee value. For instance, Smithsonian’s Bird Friendly certification not only to protects birds and wildlife habitats, but also focuses on carbon capture, aiming to minimize the carbon footprint of the coffee supply chain the most. This certification ensures peaceful coexistence with wildlife, including essential microoragnisms that help preserve environmental balance. One of its key principles is to minimize disruption to ecosystems and habitat loss (Selva, 2025). For fulfulling these goals, one of the main practices InConexus bears in mind avoiding the use of chemical pesticides.
Speaking of chemicals, Trade Organic also addresses this issue. Fair Trade ensures that harmful chemicals like glyphosate and chlorpyrifos are not used, preventing contamination of water sources and protecting farmers health from chemical exposure. Furthermore, Fair Trade promotes fair treatment for farmers, including compensation tariffs and fair pricing for their coffee (Foocom Experts, 2024). InConexus supports regenerative agriculture to meet FTO requirements, preserving the ecological balance in every region it operates.
Regarding environmental regeneration, the Rain Forest Alliance certification promotes reforestation initiatives, supporting the balance of microbiomes. It also ensures fair labor practices and helps establish a sustainable economic cycle that benefits everyone in the supply chain (SGS Digicomply Editorial Team, 2024). Reforestation not only restores natural nutrient cycles but also strengthens social and economic sustainability, aligning production methods with current global needs.
Finally, these certifications contribute to a comprehensive review of every bean in our supply. Thanks to them, Sustain the Sip’s grain processing has become highly advanced. InConexus is committed to nurturing both the ecosystem and coffee growers through leadership, support projects, and partnerships with associations. Certifications such as Bird Friendly, Fair Trade Organic and Rain Forest achieve several advances for the industry, and these advances are converged in every Sustain the Sip grain you can take a Sip of.
