TRUTH 💣 ON GOALS
Go SMALL to Achieve Your HUGE Goals
I know you have huge goals.
You wouldn't be reading this newsletter if you weren't an ambitious, hard-driving, success seeker with bold and inspiring ideas to make an impact and change the world around you.
But here's the problem...
The Trifecta of Goal Paralysis
When we set huge goals, the sheer scale can create a perception of unattainability. This causes a significant dip in motivation as success seems distant and elusive.
This grandiosity typically leads to cognitive overload, where your brain struggles to process the overwhelming number of steps and choices involved in such ambitious endeavors, resulting in decision fatigue and complete mental paralysis.
Additionally, the looming shadow of potential failure magnifies with the size of the goal, instilling a deep-rooted fear that paralyzes action and impedes progress.
This creates a trifecta of:
And this not only dampens our motivation, but can also halt our journey towards these ambitious objectives before it even begins.
The Truth Bomb: Go SMALL to Go BIG
So, counter to what most think, here is the groundbreaking truth bomb on how to actually achieve huge goals: Go SMALL... to go BIG.
For example, you might ask: "What can we do to create a more unified country?"
All you'll end up with are vague answers that are difficult to implement. The problem is mostly unmanageable at that level.
Instead ask: "What can I do to create a more unified neighborhood?"
Suddenly, you can identify numerous small actions you might take to connect with your local community and create meaningful neighborhood impact.
Remember, sometimes you need to zoom in to zoom out. Problems that seem impossible at one level are often quite accessible from a different perspective.
6 Ways to Apply this Success Strategy
1- Become Financially Independent
Start with financial savings.
Rather than aiming to save a large sum of money abruptly, start by setting aside a small, manageable amount from each paycheck. This gradual approach can lead to substantial savings over time without overwhelming your current financial situation.
2- Becoming Multi-Lingual
Start with one new language.
Instead of trying to become fluent in a new language all at once, focus on learning a few essential phrases or words each day. This method makes the process less daunting and more achievable, leading to gradual but significant progress.
3- Get Ripped Abs and a Beach Body
Start with getting healthy.
Instead of overhauling your entire lifestyle for better health, begin by incorporating small changes, like a 10-minute daily walk or replacing one unhealthy meal with a healthier option each day. These small steps can lead to significant improvements in health over time.
4- Become Illuminati-level Connected
Start right in your industry.
Rather than attempting to connect with top industry leaders immediately, begin by networking with local professionals and peers in your field. These smaller connections will gradually lead to opportunities with more prominent industry figures and eventually those coveted secret handshakes you've been dreaming about.
5- Become a Skill Ninja Master
Start with daily micro-practice.
Rather than trying to master a skill or hobby immediately, dedicate a small amount of time each day to practice and learn. This steady approach can lead to significant progress over time.
6- Be the Mr. Darcy to Your Romantic Partner
First, fix your relationship.
Instead of trying to resolve all issues in a relationship at once, focus on addressing a small, specific concern. Open communication and small acts of kindness can gradually strengthen the bond... Maybe all the way to your own Pemberley moment.
The Power of Small Steps
The secret to conquering colossal goals lies not in the pursuit of the monumental in one fell swoop, but in the power of the incremental, the manageable, and the strategically small.
As ambitious as your vision may be, remember that the journey to achievement is often paved with smaller, consistent steps that accumulate and compound into transformational results (sounds familiar, right?!).

2moSpot on! Chunking down areas for finishing my book. Little wins aka accomplishments, can be measured and celebrated...and those action steps have created the motivation to keep going on to the next step.

2moGreat steps. This reminds me of the late and great man Jim Rohn was. He broke things down in small bite size pieces. His trainings and quotes are engrained in my head…. “Find a way to serve the many, because service to many leads to greatness…”
Darren, I find that the plan is more easy to process, and implement, than developing a goal that can often start with great motives, but fall short if not executed in small steps, as a part of a plan. A plan to a knock out debt, a plan for the year, etc. And your categories are great because we can address different areas of life, including professional and personal development.
