Useful tools for personal use

After my last post I have been asked to expand a bit more on the free tools, so with the help of our new minion army generated this article, hope it's useful.

  • Enable Network-Wide Filtering: Configure OpenDNS FamilyShield on your router for an additional layer of protection.

  • Maintain Devices Regularly: Run CCleaner weekly to clean up unnecessary files. Use Endpoint Central for patching and app management if you have multiple devices.

  • Ensure Security: Rely on Windows Defender for basic protection and supplement with Malwarebytes for deeper scans.

  • Set Up Remote Access: Install AeroAdmin for quick remote assistance or use Endpoint Central for more comprehensive remote management.

Notes

  • Free vs. Paid Plans: Many tools offer free versions with basic features. Consider upgrading to paid plans for advanced functionality, especially for parental controls and security.

  • Device Compatibility: Ensure the tools you choose are compatible with your family’s devices (Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, etc.).

  • Privacy and Security: Always download tools from official websites to avoid malware. For parental controls, ensure compliance with local privacy laws and discuss monitoring with your children for transparency.

  • Regular Updates: Keep all tools updated to benefit from the latest features and security patches.
