User Newsletter | July 2025
This month’s updates to Ongoing WMS include improved report access control by user type, a new material register for packaging types, enhanced batch filtering in production, added security with two-factor authentication via authenticator apps, and more. We’re also very excited to be introducing a new direct transporter integration with DHL Freight! More on that below.
Here is a selection of recent updates to Ongoing WMS. To keep the interface clean and efficient, most new features are turned off by default. If you'd like to enable any of them, please contact your Ongoing representative.
Restrict Report Visibility by User Type
It is now possible to control which user types can access specific reports. For example, a report intended only for users with the “Administrator” role can now be restricted accordingly. This setting can be configured under Administration → Reports by editing the relevant report and selecting the applicable user types. This feature helps protect sensitive or role-specific data.
New Material Register for Packaging Types
A dedicated material register has been introduced, allowing users to define the materials used in various packaging types. When editing a packaging type, users can specify whether it is made of cardboard, plastic, wood, or another material. This improvement supports sustainability initiatives and enhances transparency in packaging documentation.
Filter by Batch in Production-Based Goods Info Updates
In the Update Goods Info view, users working with the production module can now filter items based on the batches that were consumed during the production. As an example: During production, you consumed an item with batch "B" in order to produce a new item. You can now find all items which where the batch "B" was used during production. This enables more accurate inventory updates, improved traceability, and facilitates tasks such as quality control or product recalls.
Group Waybill Row Statistics by Transporter
The Waybill Row Statistics view, accessible via Administration → System Registers → Packaging Types, now includes the option to group data by transporter. This allows you to see how many packages of each type you have used for each transporter during a specific period.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) via Authenticator Apps
Two-factor authentication (2FA) using authenticator apps such as Google Authenticator is now available to all users. This can be configured under System → Two-Factor Authentication. Enabling 2FA adds an extra layer of protection beyond passwords, improving account security and strengthening the overall data safety of the WMS.
Shipping Zones in Transporter Assignment Rules
Shipping zones can now be incorporated into transporter assignment rules. A shipping zone consists of defined postal code intervals, and rules can be limited to operate within those zones. For example, to assign a specific transporter exclusively for shipments to Stockholm, a zone can be defined for Stockholm's postal codes and applied accordingly. This provides greater precision and flexibility in managing transporter assignments.
Multilingual Return Cause Descriptions
It is now possible to add translations for return causes in multiple languages. This functionality is especially useful for businesses serving international markets, as return forms and documentation can be automatically translated based on the recipient’s country. This ensures consistency across multilingual logistics operations.
We continuously ensure that our native integrations are up and running smoothly. Below are some of last month’s updates. Find more information about all integrations in our Documentation Center.
Adobe Commerce
Improved Cancellation Logic: Orders cancelled in Adobe Commerce will now always trigger cancellation attempts in Ongoing WMS. Previously, this behavior depended on specific status mapping settings. Now, all cancelled orders in Adobe Commerce are automatically fetched and matched for cancellation in Ongoing WMS, ensuring better consistency across systems.
Cargoflux
Dangerous Goods Support: The integration now includes dangerous goods information when sending shipment data to Cargoflux, provided that such details are available for the picked goods in Ongoing WMS.
Attachment Handling: Attachments linked to created shipments, such as customs documents, are now automatically fetched from Cargoflux.
Fortnox
Backorder Handling for Purchase Orders: The integration now supports reporting purchase orders with backorders from Ongoing WMS to Fortnox. When receiving part of a purchase order in Ongoing WMS, the remaining quantities can now be split into a new purchase order instead of the purchase order remaining open and marked as partially delivered. For some customers, this may ensure clearer tracking of pending items in Fortnox.
DHL Freight
New Direct Transporter Integration. A direct integration with DHL Freight is now available in Ongoing WMS. By connecting directly to DHL Freight’s API, users can efficiently book shipments and generate labels without relying on third-party platforms, which may streamline operations and potentially reduce costs. This solution is ideal for companies that exclusively use DHL Freight but can also be combined with other delivery management systems if needed. Learn more in our Documentation Center.
Netvisor
Daily Full Stock Sync: A new option allows for a full stock balance synchronization between Ongoing WMS and Netvisor once per day. This ensures inventory levels remain accurate across platforms.
Shopify
Improved Handling of Duplicate SKUs: The stock synchronization logic has been updated to handle scenarios where multiple articles share the same SKU in Shopify. If only one of these articles is active, the integration will now update the stock for that active item. Previously, the integration skipped synchronization of these duplicate articles, requiring manual stock entry.
Specter
Return-Aware Stock Calculation: The stock sync logic now allows the calculated inventory to exclude returned items that have not yet been reported to Specter. This prevents returns from being counted twice and helps avoid overselling due to inaccurate inventory levels.
Webshipper – Order Integration
Duplicate Shipment Prevention: The order integration will no longer create duplicate shipments in Webshipper if a shipment has already been created using another integration. During scheduled reporting, the integration will verify whether a shipment has previously been created for the order in Ongoing WMS.
Webshipper – Shipping Integration
One Package per Shipment Option: The shipping integration can now be configured to split multi-package shipments into separate shipments, each containing a single package. This is especially useful when working with carriers that do not support multiple packages in a single shipment.
