This Week’s Top 5 Events + The Cure Might Be A Band On A Porch
Pick a day, and I’m probably feeling woe is me about something.
Currently, it’s the classic: too many irons in the fire.
Ok Steve, take some darn irons out, amirite?
I was chatting with a good friend — the legendary former KoP stalwart and current entrepreneurial dynamo Matt Tanner (check out Same Page) — and we were chopping it up, as friends do, on a mid-morning text chain when an epiphany landed that felt oddly clarifying.
It’s the type of thought that, when repeated back, doesn't sound that profound…
But it is helpful.
When you're feeling unmotivated, you're likely missing one of two things:
👉 Motivation
👉 Inspiration
If it’s motivation: look in the mirror, give yourself the pep talk.
But if it’s inspiration? That one hits deeper. You start to wonder if you’re broken in some big way.
Don't worry, you’re not. You just need to get out, see something unexpected, hear something beautiful, or remember that you’re part of a city that’s very much alive.
I'm here to help ...
🧘♂️ King of Pops Yoga (Sat, 930 a.m. @ O4W Skatepark)
Samson’s leading this one — his classes are the perfect mix of friendly encouragement and “yes you can hold that pose a little longer.”
This event’s back in a big way, with a new lineup of instructors and the same legendary field. Meet someone, take a walk, enjoy the morning.
🎶 Virginia-Highland Porchfest (Sat All Day)
Porchfests are so in right now — and for good reason.
They’re everything great about festivals (live music, neighborhood energy, good people), without the standard festival dressings.
This one’s a gem. Drop into bars that were hot 20 years ago, wander onto strangers’ lawns with hundreds of friendly folks, and maybe even find a new favorite local band.
🎪 Kirkwood Spring Fling (Sat)
One day only, but it's a big one, and I'm always sad if I miss it. + Catlanta did the art for the flyer, so it has me smirking knowingly every time I see it.
Great music, food, artist market, kids zone, 5K — it’s a neighborhood party with real staying power. Kirkwood always shows up for this one, and so do we.
🚲 Atlanta Streets Alive (Sun, 1–5 p.m.)
From West End to Grant Park — zero cars, but lots of wheels. This event is worth going to every time. Never gets old. Roads without cars is just fun.

🌿 Midtown Garden Stroll (Sun, 12–5 p.m.)
This event deserves more love.
Midtown’s pocket neighborhood is full of steep hills and hidden gems — koi ponds, wild flowers, old homes with character. Carb-load before you go and enjoy the calm in the chaos.
