Work is better with your bestie, refer a friend today

It’s no secret that networking is a huge component of professional success. But have you ever considered what networking tools can further set you apart in your career? One of the best ways candidates can differentiate themselves from the competition is by asking for a referral from someone who already works at the organization. By building relationships with current employees, you increase your chances of being referred for open positions.

At Stryker, we’re excited to offer a global employee talent referral program. When a Stryker employee refers family or a friend, they often do so because they believe that the individual would be a good fit at Stryker and has the necessary skills for the job.

Asking for a referral is a great way to get your foot in the door at Stryker.

Check out our tips below for the best way to use your professional network and how to ask someone to refer you to Stryker.

1.    Identify the job you want to apply for

Considering asking a former co-worker or acquaintance to refer you for a job at Stryker?

Before you reach out, make sure you’ve identified the job you want to apply for. When asking for a referral, it's essential to be specific about the role you're interested in. Be sure to provide a job description or a link to the job advertisement so that they have all the information they need.

2.    Identify the right person to ask and reach out

Once you’ve determined the role you’d like to apply for, you need to decide who the right person to ask for a referral is. This should be someone in your professional network who currently works at Stryker. Ideally, you have a strong relationship with this person and they know your skills and qualifications.

After you've identified the right person to ask, the next step is to reach out to them. You can do this via email, LinkedIn, or even in person if you have the opportunity. When reaching out, be clear and concise about your request. Let them know that you're interested in a job at Stryker and that you're hoping they can provide a referral.

3.    Explain why you're a good fit

It's not enough to simply ask for a referral. You also need to explain why you're a good fit for the role. Highlight your skills, experience, and qualifications, and explain why you believe you would be a great fit at Stryker. People can be hesitant to submit a referral if they’re not sure the applicant would be a good fit. By highlighting why you’re an excellent candidate you’re giving the referrer peace of mind.

4.    Don’t forget to say ‘Thank you’

After asking someone to refer you, don’t forget to say thank you. Whether they refer you or not, it is important to show your appreciation for their time and support.

As a job seeker, taking advantage of Stryker’s global employee referral program can increase your chances of landing a job. If you’re considering applying to Stryker, make sure you check your network and ask for a referral today!

Important things to note about Stryker’s referral process.

  • The referral must be submitted before you apply for the position.
  • Applications must be submitted via the link emailed to you after you have been referred.

Love this!! 💛💛 some of my bestest friends are ex coworkers. You truly grow into family working with people everyday the good and the bad part of family. In the end though it’s all love for one another that gets the job done.
