If You Do Not Use Your Voice Someone Will Speak for You Instead

I have never done something as rewarding as helping others find their voice.

Sometimes that means supporting someone who is unsure how to express a thought... I have been there MANY times! Other times it means helping a team communicate more clearly during a time of change. Often, it starts with asking the right question and creating space for someone to feel safe answering it (active listening plays a key role here).

Working in communications has taught me that clarity begins with people. Not statements. Not slogans. Not noise. Real communication starts with listening and grows from trust.

I have helped individuals and organisations speak with more confidence, more humanity, and more purpose, because I have also been insecure, tried to look strong, and lost a bit of myself. Big mistake.

That kind of work does not begin with a company message. It begins with a person. With a voice that is ready to be heard.

And I always remind people of this: if you do not use your voice, someone will speak for you instead. And when that happens, something important is lost. Your point of view. Your presence. Your truth.

This work has shaped who I am.

It has made me more attentive. More intentional. It has taught me that what you say matters, but how you say it is what people carry with them. It has reminded me that you do not need to be loud to be clear.

I have seen the power of someone speaking up for the first time with confidence (it is SO lovely to see authenticity in action). The shift is real. It changes how they lead. It changes how others listen. That moment stays with them.

Helping others speak clearly can be tiring. It takes energy to listen, to hold space, to help someone shape their words with care. But it is deeply meaningful.

When someone speaks from a place of clarity and courage, they move forward. And when they grow, they often inspire others to do the same.

That is how culture grows. That is how trust builds. And honestly, what is the point of knowledge if it stays locked inside you?

Sharing what you know strengthens your work and even inspires others. It builds connection. It creates possibility. And it reminds people that their voice belongs in the room.

I will keep doing this work with clarity and care. Communication to me is how we help others speak before someone else speaks for them.
