Over 356,000 fans came to witness Lewis Hamilton win on his home track at Silverstone. The British Grand Prix was a milestone for the industry and Freemans Event Partners were there to support with over 242 food and beverage outlets
It was an honour and a privilege to play our part and to see how large-scale events can and should work, as we learn to live with the threat of COVID in the longer term.
While the road ahead will undoubtedly be a bumpy one, one thing we can be sure of is that the events market is back up and running……and in need of many skilled people in what has been branded a ‘hospitality staff crisis’ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-57817775 by a number of media outlets.
We have seen this summer how hospitality has faced a shortage of people across the board. Some proprietors are reducing opening hours or covers due to a lack of chefs, waiting staff or front of house. It’s a hard pill to swallow with demand from consumers gaining momentum.
The skills requirement in events is broad based and presents huge and exciting opportunities. Not just for seasoned events professionals, however also for new starters and career changers.
At Freemans Event Partners, we deliver a complete range of services to venues and events. From concessions, catering and bars to logistics, payment solutions and brand partnerships. Our teams are both office-based and work on site. From operations, administration, marketing, catering, and management. The career opportunities are both rich and varied.

So many of the skills in events are transferable from other markets, many of which have also suffered during the pandemic. Take retail, for example - customer service, communication and stock management are all skills which are transferable to events. The same applies to project managers or operations professionals in other sectors. The ability to plan well, solve problems, adapt quickly to change and deliver a project on time and to budget are core to delivering events.
For us, what’s important is that our people are committed, accountable and have a great attitude to getting their and the teams job done. The hours can be demanding at times, particularly at high season. But the rewards are huge. Who knows where this new journey might take you, however one thing is for sure there is never a dull day!
