Watch the BrokeringSpaces Conference online now! 📺 https://lnkd.in/eRiaSfmi On June 17, 2025, the international Brokering Spaces Conference “Sustainable municipalities and cities - Cooperative inner development as a key” took place in Vienna as part of the EU BrokeringSpaces project,, which is funded by the Interreg Alpine Space programme. Together with partners from Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland, we are developing innovative and implementable transformation scenarios that support sustainable land management and spatial decision-making at all levels. The conference was organised by the Federal Chamber of Architects and Chartered Engineering Consultants in close cooperation with the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna and brought together experts research, planning and municipal practice for an in-depth exchange. It focused on the question of how cooperative inner-city development can serve as the key to sustainable, climate-resilient and liveable communities and cities and was moderated by Ernst Rainer, Chairman of the Federal Expert Group for Urban Development and Spatial Planning in the BKZT.

🌍 Introducing the Lead Partner of BrokeringSpaces! We’re proud to have the SIR - Salzburger Institut für Raumordnung und Wohnen GmbH (SIR) as the Lead Partner of our Alpine Space project. 👏 As a non-profit organisation of the Federal State of Salzburg, SIR supports municipalities in spatial planning, mobility, energy efficiency, housing, and climate protection. With strong expertise in #ISEK (Integrated Urban Development Concepts), SIR promotes participatory and sustainable urban planning. SIR is a Member of the Alpplan Network & EUSALP AG7 and was involved in the ÖROK Expert recommendations for strengthening town centres. 🎯 In BrokeringSpaces, SIR leads the project both administratively and thematically, ensures deep territorial anchoring through test regions, and promotes long-term policy impact across the Alpine space.
