Ten years ago, I created Leadership Landscape TV because I felt that others — like Charlie Rose and James Lipton, who made careers interviewing famous individuals and powerful leaders — did not delve into the core of leadership.

None of these shows tried to explain it, define it or find its origins in the person being interviewed.

Since then, I’ve conducted nearly 200 interviews with leaders of every style you could imagine. They include a former governor, a Miss America, a Heisman Trophy winner, a Kentucky Derby-winning jockey, faith leaders, numerous CEOs, and the creator of the largest fireworks display in North America, among many others.

I then turned again to my generation and asked: "Are we ready to live up to this call?" As a Young Professionals Association of Louisville board member and a recent charter graduate of the Ignite Louisville leadership program, I could name a few. But, more important, and somewhat sadly, I couldn't name on one hand a group of solid individuals under 40 who are ready and able to assume the mantle of leadership so vitally necessary to steer Louisville on a chartered course into the new millennium. Where are the new Jerry Abramsons, David Armstrongs, David Joneses, Wendell Cherrys, Ed Glasscocks and Tom Owens of the 21st century? (see full article)
