The study investigates the factors affecting the performance of small and micro enterprises (SMEs) in four peri-urban centers of Eldoret, Kenya, highlighting their significance in employment generation and poverty alleviation. It identifies three main determinants of SME growth: customer impact, business environment, and entrepreneurial characteristics, concluding that understanding these factors can enhance SME performance. The research suggests that improved support from the government and better entrepreneur knowledge of customer needs could foster growth in this sector.
