Welcome to our
Values Assembly
This month’s Values song is…
‘It’s Called Respect’
by The Fearless Lions
“A value is a
principle
that guides our
thinking and
behaviour.”
Let’s reflect on how thinking about
(enter previous month’s value)
did this?
Let’s remind ourselves
of all the values we
have in our
Values Toolkit so far…
Love
Compassion
Respect
Kindness
Responsibility
Friendship
Peace
Equality
Courage
Hope
Consideration
Positivity
Trust
Honesty
Self belief
Self control
Pride
Confidence
Tolerance
Empathy
Patience
Determination
Values Assembly - Respect
Respect
This month we will be exploring the value of …
You can have respect for someone
because you admire something about
them
You can have respect for someone’s
feelings, their wishes or their rights
You can have respect for things other
than humans or things that aren’t
living
Respect
Why should we have
respect?
Do we like people to be rude to us?
Do we like people to ignore us?
Do we like people to hurt us?
Do we like people to not trust us?
Do we like people to take our things?
Do we like people to break or spoil our things?
Do we like people to mess up our special places?
Do we like people to spoil our experiences?
We can’t expect to be respected
unless we show respect.
being polite
being fair
How can we
show
respect?
being punctual
being reliable
respecting ourselves
keeping promises
Which other
values can we
use
to help us show
respect?
Respect!
Who do
you
respect…
and
why?

Think about what you could do to earn a ‘Respect sticker’ this month
Respect yourself
enough to walk away
from anything that
no longer serves
you, grows you or
makes you happy
Robert Tew
I don’t care if you’re
black, white, short,
tall, skinny, rich or
poor. If you respect
me, I’ll respect you.
Adele
For to be free is not
merely to cast off
one’s chains, but to
live in a way that
respects the freedom
of others.
Nelson Mandela
Treat people the way
you want to be
treated. Talk to
people the way you
want to be talked to.
Respect is earned
not given.
How does Respect
do this?
A quiet moment of prayer or reflection...
Respect
A quiet moment of prayer or reflection...
As we reflect,
think about how respect
makes the world
a better place to be.
Here in our school
Let us be peaceful at all times.
Let our rooms be full of happiness
and respect for each other.
Let love be in our hearts
With kindness and compassion for all.
Let us remember
In learning together,
We grow together
And succeed together.
A prayer for all of us
Is it important for
people to show respect
towards each other
…and why?
Is being more respectful
something you will think
about more in future?
Who will you show more
respect to and what
might be the
consequences of your
actions?
Who would you like to
show more respect
to you?
Why?
Thank you for showing such
respect
and for listening
so well to our
Values Assembly.

  • #3: Click on heart to play - hyperlink to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOvZLOL9zd0&safe=active
  • #4: Time for a moment of reflection while children and staff think about how the value has shown in their lives during the last month. Encourage them to think of how it affected their own thinking and behaviour and also that of other people.
  • #6: Re-cap on previous values. Talk about building your ‘values toolkit’ and using them all the time. Delete those which haven’t been explored yet and/or replace with different values as appropriate. If you are in the second cycle, recap on all of the values from the first cycle.
  • #7: Re-cap on previous values. Talk about building your ‘values toolkit’ and using them all the time. Delete those which haven’t been explored yet and/or replace with different values as appropriate. If you are in the second cycle, recap on all of the values from the first cycle.

  • #21: Add photos of aspects of your school which encourage respectful behaviour
  • #23: Create Respect stickers and give to all staff (and prefects, buddies etc) to give to children who have shown respect. Team points or other rewards may be linked if appropriate. Encourage the child who has earned the sticker to articulate what they did, acknowledge/praise the action which led to the reward and congratulate the child for being a super role model. Parents will be very proud!
