Lessons from the past
                 p
 Urban planning is important for developments in mobility
 Results of the ‘planned suburbanization spatial policy:
                  planned suburbanization’
    – Negative: congestion for and by commuters on the main roads
    – Positive: better accessibility in the inner cities and towns
 Bicycle dominates short distance trips in the city
 Parking policy effectively reduces car nuisance



 Problems should mainly be handled on a regional scale
Amsterdam: accessable and liveable

   Public transport and bicycle compete with car
