An introduction to archway housing project
Archway Housing Project is a hostel which
offers generic support to young, vulnerable
homeless women. It also provides housing to
young, vulnerable families in need of housing
and support. Archway has eight bedrooms in
the hostel with shared facilities such as
kitchen, bathrooms and living room.
Each tenant has a tenancy for their bedroom
which affords them the same rights as council
tenants. The main part of the tenancy is
accepting support, each tenant has a designated
link worker to work on areas of support which
have been previously agreed and written into a
support plan. Archway offer support with things
such as budgeting and financial support,
resettlement and independence, emotional
support, education etc..
Tenants pay a personal service charge for their
room and facilities which currently stands at
£8.54 per week.
When it is agreed by both tenant and link
worker that they are ready to move on from
Archway or families project there is a nomination
agreement with the council, this means that after
completing a tenancy awareness course the
tenant can be gold banded and start bidding on
properties through the home options scheme.
If, at the time of moving out there are still a
few things the tenant would like support with,
staff can refer them over to the tenancy support
team and they can then have a support worker to
come to their new home, this can be helpful for
things such as setting up utilities, change of
address, updating DWP etc..
