The study examines the impact of polluted surface water from Budha Nullah on groundwater quality in Ludhiana, revealing that groundwater is increasingly unfit for drinking due to high levels of parameters like total dissolved solids and biological contaminants. Water samples from the area showed concerning contamination levels, including heavy metals and high biochemical oxygen demand, while soil samples also indicated the presence of various heavy metals. The research emphasizes the urgent need for monitoring and protective measures to mitigate groundwater pollution in the context of rapid industrialization and urbanization.
