The Sonic Distortions are a blues-rock/indie rock duo that aims to modernize the Delta blues sound and keep it mainstream. Inspired by Led Zeppelin and the White Stripes, they strive to revitalize blues rock with a stripped-down sound as a duo. While having a rock-oriented sound, their songs will be simply constructed with catchy melodies and riffs for mainstream popularity. They have released one successful debut album and are working on a more experimental second album. Their breakthrough came from performing on Later Live with Jools Holland alongside other artists but instantly standing out with their hit single "Electric".

- 1. THE SONIC DISTORTIONS This is the band that will appear on the front cover of my issue of Symbal magazine. The Sonic Distortions are a blues-rock/indie rock duo with the primary focus of modernising the old Delta Blues sound that serves as the primary inspiration behind all rock-orientated genres of music, and keeping this tribute to the blues in the mainstream. The band are strongly inspired by the works of bands such as Led Zeppelin and the White Stripes, who also strived to revitalise and popularise the harsh, simplistic sounds of blues rock, and the minimisation of band members down to two will allow for a stripped-down, powerful sound. Despite this rock-orientated sound, the songs themselves will be constructed simply, with catchy melodies and simplistic riffs allowing for mainstream popularity and airplay. The lead singer will also mix up classic blues instruments with modern ones, with harmonica being contrasted with the electronica sound of the keyboard, and bass guitars acting against soulful piano melodies. At the point where they are being shown on the front cover of Symbal, they have already released one debut album to commercial and critical success, though they are not yet what may be defined as an ‘established’ band, and are currently in the process of creating a more sonically adventurous, experimental second album. Concerning the bands rise to fame, their breakthrough came in the form of Later Live with Jools Holland, where they appeared alongside the Manic Street Preachers and Seasick Steve and still managed to instantly steal the show with their hit single, ‘Electric’, and became noted for their eclectic, improvised live performances from there on in.
