Connect Crop
Fresh food, neighbor to neighbor.
PREVIEW
PROJECT GOALS
Simple
How might we
design a
simple,
streamlined
garden-to-table
process?
Fun
How might we
reduce stress for
individuals in need
of fresh produce and
make the process as
delightful as
possible?
Accessible
How might we ensure
that anyone,
regardless of
demographic, can
access or donate
fresh food?

RESEARCH
Interviews Survey
Some quotes from a total of 2 user interviews:
“I didn’t feel good going -to food banks-
I felt like a failure. I got this feeling of
you must’ve done something wrong if
you’re broke.”
- Experienced food insecurity while raising 5
kids
“I suppose what makes -food banks-
work the best is when they make you
feel like you can help others even when
you’re being helped.”
- Currently experiencing food insecurity
9.5%
57%
In a survey group of 30 people located in
Aurora, Colorado:
9.5% reported that they
frequently go hungry
because food is too
expensive to buy.
57% reported that they
worry about affording
food but typically or
never go hungry.

USER TESTING
< 1 minute
75%
The average time spent on each task was less than 1
minute.
75% of participants said that there were never too
many steps for any of the tasks completed.
A total of 4 usability tests were done with past survey participants and
interviewees. Test participants were given a total of 5 tasks to complete.
Some data found:
50%
50% of participant rated the the app was “very easy” to
navigate as opposed to “mostly easy” or “not easy at
all.”
OPPORTUNITIES
More streamlined
process to sign up
for a donation.
More consistent use
of icons.
Less wordy screens- more
imagery and icon usage
throughout processes.
THE SOLUTION
THE SOLUTION
NEXT STEPS
Simplify the “Create
an Event” task for
donors.
More user testing
with donors.
Create a more intuitive way
to add food preferences for
receiving users.
LESSONS LEARNED
Reduce clicks at
every opportunity!
Animations look
best when they are
at 24 frames per
second.
Pop-up menu will
simplify almost any
task. Given the right
funding, this app has
the potential to truly
help feed
communities while
preventing food
waste.
