This document provides background information on a study about factors influencing the survival of microenterprises in Uganda's informal sector, specifically focusing on Boda Boda (motorcycle taxi) drivers in Kampala. The study used government publications and qualitative primary research methods like interviews, surveys, and focus groups with Boda Boda drivers, associations, and other organizations. The findings revealed that a major factor in microenterprise survival is the ability to access and own capital. While the Boda Boda trade provides employment, it also creates social inequalities and challenges due to dysfunction of government interventions.
