W/S (Wide shot) - To bring attention to the setting.
Close up- To make the audience see the facial expressions on the mother and
family’s face to show how happy it makes them.
Also at the end of the advert they show the productat a close up for a few
seconds.
Mise-en-scene (Whatcolours,sets and props are used? Why?)
Colour- black and white
Sets- Traditional familyhouse,it shows thatthe advert is abouta traditional family.
Advertising Techniques – What techniques are used and why?
It complements the consumer- Makes the consumer look cleaner and fresh.
Nurture – helps mother take care of their families.
Peer approval- Other house wives are judging the mum making her feel peer
pressured
Promise a benefit- Promises to give whiter clothes.
Narrative – What is the story of the ad, characters,settings,conflicts,
resolutions?
Story- House wife which is a mum is doing the laundry when she notices that
other mums have made their clothes very white.So she buys Persil making her
kids and husband’s clothes even whiter which gives them respectin the
office/school.
Characters- Traditional 1960’s families with mum cleaning and Dad working.
Setting- Home and school/office.
Conflicts- Other mums judging how white the clothes are and have to keep up
with clothes for respect.
Resolution- Buying Persil makes clothes whiter.
Target Audience – Who is the product for?
For 20-40 year olds women who have family’s (house wives)
Sounds - What can you hear?
Old classymusic throughoutthe advert while a Male voice is narrating.
