Introduction to The Book of Revelation

LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the Study of the Book of Revelation, You, as Child of God, should
be able to :
1. have a panoramic view of the end time events;
2. have an in-depth understanding of the book that was erstwhile difficult to
understand because of its symbolism;
3. understand the agenda of God for the world and how the programs of the
end time events are gradually unfolding;
4. determine to live your life in expectation of the next program in God’s
agenda, which is the Rapture.

HOW IT STARTED.
 The theologian Tertullian reported that John was plunged
into boiling oil but miraculously escaped unscathed.
 After this, John was exiled to the Island of Patmos by the
Roman government because of his proclamation of the
gospel.
 It was on the island of Patmos that John received
messages from Jesus to the churches and visions
related to the end times.

THE ISLE OF PATMOS
 Patmos was an Island about west-southwest of Miletus
in the Aegean sea.
 Presently, Patmos is situated off the west coast
of Turkey and the continent of Asia.
 It is one of the northernmost islands of the Dodecanese
complex.

The Book of Revelation
 The book of Revelation is one of the Prophetic books of
the Bible.
 God revealed to John, His plan for the World.
 These are events which had begun, continues to this
hour, and in fact, will continue forever.
 It is the Church ages and beyond.

Write the things which thou hast seen, and the
things which are, and the things which shall be
hereafter. Rev. 1:19
This verse is the key to
the understanding of the
Book of Revelation.

PART 1:
The Things Which Thou Hast Seen.
This is the Vision of Christ in the midst of the
Candlesticks.
Chapter 1
The Book is
divided into
three parts:

PART 2:
The Things Which Are
This concerns the Churches and the seven ages of
the church and their characteristics.
Chapters 2 and 3.

PART 3:
The Things Which Shall Be Hereafter.
These concern the events after the Rapture of the
Church, the Great Tribulation and Eternity.
Chapters 4 to 22.

The 7 Beatitudes in the Revelation
In the Book of Revelation there are seven pronounced
blessings:
i. The Blessed Challenge – 1:3
ii. The Blessed Comfort – 14:13
iii. The Blessed Cautiousness – 16:15
iv. The Blessed Calling –19:9
v. The Blessed Conquest –20:6
vi. The Blessed Cherishing – 22:7
vii. The Blessed Conformity –22:14

The Blessed Challenge – 1:3
Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of
this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it;
for the time is near.
All who obey these admonitions are promised a
Blessing

The Blessed Comfort – 14:13
Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the
dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they
may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.”
This refers to the Great Tribulation when many would die for
their Testimony rather than serve the Antichrist.

The Blessed Cautiousness – 16:15
“Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and
keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”
Points to those on earth who worship and serve the
Lamb, and that they must be constantly vigilant, lest
their loyalty be diverted through Satanic deception.

The Blessed Calling –19:9
Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called
to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he said to
me, “These are the true sayings of God.”
This shall take place in Heaven while with the
Raptured Saints while the Tribulation goes on in
the earth.

The Blessed Conquest –20:6
Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over
such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God
and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.
This is the Resurrection of Life, which will include every
Saint of God who has ever lived from Abel to the last
Tribulation Saint; all will be given glorified bodies.

The Blessed Cherishing – 22:7
“Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of
the prophecy of this book.”
Every believer ought to study this Book of Revelation,
the only book in the world that gives a purview of the
future. By so doing, you are blessed.

The Blessed Conformity –22:14
Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may
have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the
gates into the city.
This right to live forever with God is possible in
only one way – By washing our robes in the Blood
of the Lamb.

Meditate on the Beatitude and Plan to
be a partaker.
