Editor's Notes

  • #2: Introduction:On behalf of School Improvement Network I want to personally thank you for the opportunity to come out and spend some time with your team. My name is (your name) and I am a professional development advisor for the state(s) of (give your states). To get things started I would love to go around the room quickly and find out what your name is, what you do for the district and what you are hoping to get out of our meeting. (Go around the room and right down their responses.)Thank you for taking the time to introduce yourself. Again, I am grateful for the opportunity to be here with you all today.I would like to take a moment and frame our meeting together. I would like to cover 4 things with you today:Get to know how you are currently providing professional development.Find out what are your biggest areas of focus. What have been the biggest challenges and road blocks in accomplishing your goals and Present to you have we can support you with our resources, tools and services. Before we jump into your professional development plan let me briefly introduce you to our company. School Improvement Network was founded over 20 years ago by two educators looking to help themselves and their colleagues improve in the area of teacher effectiveness. Ever since our start we have never lost sight of that purpose. We believe in two very important principals:100% of Students being College & Career Ready100% Teacher EffectivenessWe believe like those of you in this room that every child deserves the right to be taught by an effective teacher under the guidance and direction of effective administrators. To that end for over 20 years now we have been developing resources, tools and services under the guidance of educators that are proven to an impact on student achievement and teacher effectiveness!
  • #5: TO understand our cause you have to understand our story. Our goal, our passion, and our work are focused every day on helping 100% of students to become college and career ready. Simply put, 100% of students must be ready and 100% of teachers must be capable of getting every student college and career ready. That is very different than saying we are all about “student achievement.” It’s not about a test score—it’s about preparedness. We believe—and experience has proven—that every student from any background has the capacity to perform at proficient levels. We fervently believe in every student’s potential to be college & career ready. In order to prepare all teachers and leaders to get 100% of students college and career ready, School Improvement Network has developed the Teacher Effectiveness System
