and ice in ancient times.
These were enjoyed by rich and powerful people such as Alexander the

Sorbets, or water ices, have been known since the 16th
century when they
were introduced in Florence. However, real ice-cream made with fresh
cream or milk was produced for the first time in the 1630s by Gerald
Tissain, the French chef of the British King Charles I.

Thousands of people start their day by laughing for no particular reason at
Laughter Clubs around the world.
The first laughter club was started in Mumbai, India, in 1995 by Dr Madan
Kataria. ‘Young children laugh about 300 times a day.
Adults laugh between 7 to 15 times a day,’ says Dr Kataria. There are now
more than 500 Laughter Clubs in India and over 1,300 worldwide.
According to a 5-year study at the School of Medicine in California,
laughter reduces stress in the body, improves our defences against illnesses
by about 40% and is very good for the heart.
