- 1. a. Scientist- did not keep because our group felt as if they did not bring enough to the group in order to save. It was nothing personal. b. Priest- kept because a foundation of religion would have to be started in the new world and we believe that without religion then there cannot be a functioning world. c. Married couple- did not keep because they are drug addicts and do not need to repopulate the earth based on their principles. Their mind set about the use of drugs would negatively affect the group. d. Single pregnant woman with a 5-year-old girl- did not keep because they take up two spots and we do not know if they are intellectual or dumb. We also are unaware of the woman’s age so we cannot take the risk of taking a woman and her child in. e. Army officer with mental disability- did not keep because he is mentally insane and we did not feel as if we needed someone with a military background. f. Elderly woman- did not keep because she is old and probably does not have the best health to survive in a new world. g. Disabled person- did not keep because they would require extra resources, which are unavailable. Also, they would be dependent on someone and could not make it in the new world. h. Lawyer- we did keep because we will need a government in the new world and he/she will be able to create a set of laws based off of their profession. i. Lazy welfare dependent- did not keep because they contribute nothing to the group. If they match their description of being lazy then they would continue to be lazy even in the new world. j. Doctor- kept because he has the knowledge to help people when they are sick and pass down his knowledge to future children. His profession is essential in the new world. k. University professor- kept because she/he will be essential to creating an educational system in the new world. Also, as they begin to populate the children will need to be taught life skills and she/he will be able to handle that job. She/he is essential to the education of the new world.
