- 9. Amazon EC2 The heart of Amazon Web Services (AWS) is Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) - a virtual computing environment.
- 10. Animoto’s Case-Study Animoto , a web-based business that produces videos for its customers . When a user logs into the Animoto website and uploads photos and music, that upload goes straight through the Animoto site and onto AWS servers. Animoto was renting 50 Amazon Machine Instances (AMIs). Suddenly, Animoto got popular and 75,000 users signed up during one weekend. Animoto’s usage went up to 3,500 instances of EC2 usage.
- 11. iCloud iCloud is the latest branding of Apple's cloud computing services. It has previously been branded as iTools in 2000, .Mac in 2002, and MobileMe in 2008. The cloud-based system allows users to store music, photos, applications, documents, iBooks and contacts. Each account has 5 GB of free storage. Photo Stream store 1,000 photos on the iCloud servers for free. For an annual charge of $24.99 users can upload 25,000 CD tracks.
