Heart attack monitoring throw Sms with using GSM and
automatic door opening with alarm
ABSTRACT
In this project we are implementing a heart beat monitoring and heart attack detection system using
Internet of things. Now days we have an increased number of heart diseases including increased risk of heart attacks.
The sensor is then interfaced t o a microcontroller that allows checking heart rate readings and transmitting them over
internet. The user may set the high as well as low levels of heart beat limit. Thus concerned ones may monitor heart
rate as well get an alert of heart attack to the patient immediately from anywhere and the person can be saved on time.
INTRODUCTION
In the new era of communication and technology, the explosive growth of electronic devices, smart phones
and tablets which can be communicated physically or wirelessly has become the fundamental tool of daily life.The aim
of IoT is to extend the benefits of Internet with remote control ability, data sharing, constant connectivity and so on.
Using an pressure sensor which is always on and collecting data, all the devices would be tied to local and mobile
networks. The term IoT, often called Internet of everything.
Heart attack is the number one cause of death for both men and women in the INDIA.
PROPOSED METHOD
System description
Current technology consists of optical and electrical monitors. The electrical method provides a bulky
strap around one’s chest or hands. The optical method does not require the strap and can be used more conveniently
than the electrical method. There are many constraints in producing a heart monitor. First, the technology used to
measure the pulse has to be determined. A cost efficient way of measuring the pulse is the combination of a led and
photo-sensor or pressure sensor.
2.1.ELECTRICAL METHOD
The strap is heart rate monitor uses electrodes to monitor the electric volts that occur when
your heart beats and pressure sensor sensing pressure in arms. The receiver detects this information from the electrodes
via radio signal from the chest strap. The receiver, then, uses this information to determine your heart rate. Some
monitors also include a "coded signal" which uses a special code in the radio signal, so that the receiver does not receive
radio signals from other nearby transmitters and connect the gsm module. This is not always a huge problem, but can
be annoying or corrupt your data.
2.2.OPTICAL METHOD
Optical technique exploits the fact that tiny subcutaneous blood vessels (capillaries) in any
patch of skin (fingertip, ear lobe, etc.) furnished with a good blood supply, alternately expand and contract in time with
the heartbeat. An ordinary infrared LED/phototransistor and pressure sensor pair can sense this rhythmic change as
small but detectable variations in skin contrast. This method uses both transmittance and reflectance principles. It is a
non-invasive method of finding heart rate i.e. no attachments or insertions on the body. It is precise and cost effective.
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The total circuit construct at infraret transmitter and receiver in human body.pressure sensor is detect the
various pressure level in patient to doctor.pressure sensor fit to the wrist or arms to sense the various pressure levels.
IR RECEIVER
An infrared emitter is an LED made from gallium arsenide, which emits near-infrared energy at about 880nm.
The infrared phototransistor acts as a transistor with the base voltage determined by the amount of light hitting the
transistor. Hence it acts as a variable current source. Greater amount of IR light cause greater currents to flow through
the collector-emitter leads.
IR TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER
PROCESSING SOFTWARE
Processing is a programming language, development environment, and online community.
Since 2001, Processing has promoted software literacy within the visual arts and visual literacy within technology.
Initially created to serve as a software sketchbook and to teach computer programming fundamentals within a visual
context, Processing evolved into a development tool for professionals. Today, there are tens of thousands of students,
artists, designers, researchers, and hobbyists who use Processing for learning, prototyping, and production.
SIGNIFICANCE OF HEART
The heart acts as a pump that circulates oxygen and nutrient carrying blood around the
body in order to keep it functioning. When the body is exerted the rate at which the heart beats will vary proportional to
the amount of effort being exerted. By detecting the voltage created by the beating of the heart, its rate can be easily
observed and used for a number of health purposes. Heart pounds to pump oxygen-rich blood to your muscles and to
carry cell waste products away from your muscles.
SENSOR CIRCUIT
C. GSM Modem
In this project, Wavecom Fastrack M1306B GSM Modem type is used. A GSM modem can be an
external device or a PC Card / PCMCIA Card. Typically, an external GSM modem is connected to a computer through
a serial cable or USB cable [14]. Like a GSM mobile phone, a GSM modem requires a SIM card from a wireless carrier
in order to operate.
AUTOMATIC DOOR OPENING AND CLOSING CIRCUIT
In this project devoloped about to the heart attack detect and monitoring to sense the
signal from doctor and nearest peoples and our family members with using GSM.This project is message passing to the
nearest peoples but door closing in inside the house is not in use. So automatic door opening with variation of pressure
and heart beat.Buzzer is indicate the heart beat and variation of pressure.
Timer is used to open door in certain time distance,but to detect the door opening and closing in various LED is used
in this circuit.Small DC motor is using door opening and closing with 05-12v supply.
ARDUINOSOFTWARE
External (non-USB) power can come either from an AC-to-DC adapter (wall-wart) or
battery. The adapter can be connected by plugging a 2.1mm center-positive plug into the board's power jack. Leads
from a battery can be inserted in the Gnd and Vin pin headers of the POWER connector.

PPG WAVEFORMS
Pressure in monitoring and sense the wave for x-y axis.Y axis is mention time and X axis mentioned
voltage.The variying pressure is vary to the voltage in sensor.The sensor in sensing variable voltage in electronics system.
PPG signal variying with PQRSTin the wave form.

The PC application first reads 600 consecutive samples sent by Arduino. Since the sampling rate was 5ms, it takes 3
sec to read the 6000 samples. The DC component (minima of 600 samples) is subtracted out from the samples. Next, the
range of the samples is computed. If the range is less than 50 counts, the received PPG waveform is very weak, and is
considered to be a noise. This could happen when no PPG signal is detected
CONCLUSION
Biomedical engineering (BME) combines the design and problem solving skill of engineering with
medical and biological sciences to improve patient’s health care and the quality of life of individuals. Cardiovascular
disease is one of the major causes of untimely deaths in world, heart beat readings are by far the only viable diagnostic
tool that could promote early detection of cardiac events[13].By using this we can measure ones heart rate through
PRESSURE SENSOR.
In the system determines the heart beat rate per minute and then sends short message service (SMS) alert to
the mobile phone. . It is portable and cost effective. It is a very efficient system and very easy to handle and thus provides
great flexibility and serves as a great improvement over other conventional monitoring and alert systems
In this project main advantage is using automatic door opening with buzzer indication.it is cost effective,and reduce heart
attack death rate simantaniously.This idea can be of a great help, if implemented in real life.
