This film has telling a psychological story to the audience, the whole story revolves around the passengers of a yachting trip in the Atlantic Ocean, they been trapping by the mysterious weather condition and their yacht has been destroyed by the storm, after the storm, a strange ship came along, they have to jump to that ship in order to survive which leads them to experience the greater havoc on the open seas. At the beginning of the film, a instrumental piano sound appeared into darkness. Then a close up shot with continuing Editing shows a young woman cuddling her son, at the mean time she’s crying as well, the non-diegetic music built the tense and mysterious atmosphere successfully, and from her terrified voice, the audience could aware that she is in a terrible situation. And from her dialogue, the audience could aware that her son just had a bad dream, which suggest the whole movie is about a dream. And afterwards, one tear drops from her eye, which send the negative and upset feeling to the audience. Then, a close up shot of her son, shows he’s shaking suggest that he’s very terrifying as well. Then a shot reverse shot editing shows their facial expression, again suggest their terrifying emotion, which built the horror atmosphere for the audience. And a close up shot shows she was kissing her son, which suggest she cares about him very much, suggest there is a strong bond between the mom and child. Then, a montage editing shows a peaceful, harmony, typical American middle class neighborhood view to the audience, the sunlight, the beautiful yard, the old man and the diegetic synchronous sound of cropper built the feeling of happy and harmony, but the minor sound also gives the audience a negative feeling and the non-diegetic sound of a woman singing built the mysterious atmosphere as well, which built the juxtaposition. Opening Sequence Analysis-Triangle jess walk towards the door and walking in the garden, the shiny sunlight’s reflection on her face provides a hazy and unreal feeling to the audience, which suggests the whole scene might be a dream, and her costume suggests the weather is pretty warm which suggests the season could be summer or the setting location is at a warm area. And she is carrying a bucket with some washings, provides a regular housewife stereotype of her to the audience. A medium close up shot shows she is taking some dry clothes off, at the meanwhile, a diegetic asynchronous sound of bird singing attracted her attention, from the action she looks up to the sky, the audience could aware that her facial expression seems quite confusing and lobotomized, and the sunlight’s reflection on her face and body provides the hazy feeling to the audience again, those elements all suggests the untruthful reality beyond the story. A zoom-in editing with close-up shot shows a toy yacht toppled in a little pool in the yard, this mystique scene symbolized there will be an accident about yacht, which provides a intense feeling to the audience, and the high key lighting and the bright colour built the peaceful atmosphere with minor music, and built the juxtaposition. And afterwards, a low angle shot shows the main character picked up the little toy yacht and walked away, the sunlight in the background that shines on the camera create the illusion atmosphere, which suggests the dream again, and the ambient sound of water suggests the accident

Then, a medium close-up shot shows her son is painting something, the low key lighting and dull colour built the negative atmosphere to the audience, and his make up seems quite pale and dropsy, and also his facial expression seems quite depressed, those two evidence suggests that he might got serious illness or he is a disabled person, and his painting which within several different colours like blue and yellow, provides the mysterious feeling to the audience, absorbing the audience’s attention as well. Afterwards, a close-up shot shows she’s cleaning the blue pigment that drops on the floor, then the bell rings, she came to the door, but found out there’s nobody here, from this quote, the audience could realize the mysterious feeling again, also the blue pigment symbolized the ocean, which gives the audience a question. And then, from a match on action editing with a over the shoulder shot shows the main character saw a note on the fridge which says “Triangle Hunting”, and from her facial expression the audience could aware that she seems quite confused and frightened, not as happy as we expected. And then, from a medium two shots from the door way that shows the main character is trying to persuade her son to come with her, the diegetic sound of her son is crying with the asynchronous sound in the background, suggests that her son has a bad feeling or even prediction about this trip, which again provides the tense and mysterious feeling to the audience, and implied the plot afterwards. Afterwards, a bird-eyed view shot with tracking shot shows the main character’s car is driving along the seaside, the scenery looks very nice and beautiful, but the minor sound in the background feels so sad and helpless, which
