This document outlines the elements of digital citizenship as defined by Mike Ribble and Gerald Bailey. It identifies nine elements within three main areas: 1) student learning and academic performance, 2) student environment and student behavior, and 3) student life outside of school. The elements include digital access, communication, literacy, security, etiquette, rights, law, health, and commerce. It also provides a three step approach for teachers to become "digiteachers" by researching technology, connecting to students, and monitoring engagement while avoiding instilling fear.
