This document summarizes CAMIC's pre-budget submission to the Canadian government. The submission made recommendations in 4 areas: 1) Increase funding for municipal infrastructure projects to address deficits. 2) Modify tax treatment of Deferred Policy Acquisition Costs. 3) Maintain restrictions on banks selling insurance. 4) Supervise credit card companies charging higher merchant fees for "special" credit cards. The government responded by increasing infrastructure funding, though with restrictions, and the issues of insurance tax treatment and banking powers will be revisited in future reviews.
