This study investigates the rates and causes of postponements in scheduled surgeries at a tertiary care hospital, revealing a postponement rate of 19.42% in the cardiac surgery department. Methodologies included data collection via questionnaires and statistical analysis through regression and time series forecasting methods, which indicated non-medical factors such as surgeon unavailability and logistical issues as significant contributors to postponements. The findings emphasize the economic and emotional burdens of surgical delays on patients and underline the need for strategic actions to minimize postponement rates.
