This document describes the design of a steering system for an all-terrain vehicle (ATV). It discusses selecting an Ackermann steering geometry to provide stability at low speeds suitable for off-road conditions. Key design parameters like track width, wheelbase, and lock-to-lock angle are calculated. An Ackermann angle of 23 degrees is determined. Additional calculations provide the turning radii, steering ratio, rack travel, pinion and rack tooth counts, and steering wheel diameter. The calculated values are validated using simulation software before finalizing the component designs.
