The student reflects on adjusting to college, which was different than expected from portrayals in media. They struggled their first year by not feeling prepared or engaged in classes and unsuited to their initial major. Now in their second year as a Human Services major, they feel more confident working with children as they've always wanted a career helping kids. While math is a weakness, sciences and labs are a strength, and the student found classes like Human Services and Marine Science most interesting due to hands-on learning and diverse discussions. The most challenging classes were Algebra and Sociology due to teaching style rather than the material. An internship next year will provide the first experience outside the classroom.
